A Dedication to Lake Powell

Yes, that right. A dedication to Lake Powell. I was thinking recently of my favorite places to be and Lake Powell is one of the top places on this list. This is for all those people out there who still have doubts about how great Lake Powell is (Jeff, you just wait....you'll change your mind in September...). The days go by so slowly as I wait in anxious anticipation for that wonderful moment on September 1st when I will glimpse Lake Powell once again. I love sitting outside looking at the stunning view, warming up from the sun only to jump into water just cold enough to be refreshing, but warm enough that you could stay in it all day. It is so beautiful and I feel so peaceful the whole time I am there. The whole time I am there I feel overwhelmed at how beautiful it is! And I have so many good memories of Lake Powell!!!
But what I especially love is skiing there. Aaaaaahhhhh, to waterski on a beautiful, glassy lake. Just thinking about it makes me shiver with delight! I was actually thinking about the first time that I decided that I was going to learn how to slalom. We had an older ski that had some sandpaper-type stuff for the back foot, presumably to help skiers keep their backfoot in. Well, when you fall again and again and again and again, that sandpapery stuff isn't as great. I remember that when I got back in the boat (after Dad had patiently let me try probably close to thirty times), the bottom of the left foot was a bit....raw. But nothing compared to being up on top of the water (however shakey those few seconds had been). It is the one thing that can get me up at 4 or 5 in the morning--a beautiful glassy lake is well worth it.

Oh Rache, you make me miss it so bad! I can't wait until my life is mine again and we can head down to Lake Powell to enjoy fruit salsa, bagel sandwiches, Italian cards, creating our own stories (she eyed him hungrily), and of course the beauty of a 5am wakeboard ride on a sheet of glass. I miss you!!!

I must say Powell is a Magical place. By the way, our blog address has changed. sethandjen.blogspot.com/. Jen thought the old address was too confusing.
